• Your assessment is booked

You don't want to walk in guessing.

Does this sound like you?

  • "I'm worried the assessor won't get my job or my needs."

  • "I know what I need, but I don't know how to justify it in a way they'll accept."

  • "I'm scared of saying the wrong thing and losing support."

  • "Last time they cut my hours and I don't know why. I can't let that happen again."

  • "I'll freeze in the moment. I need to have it all prepared in advance."

What happens in the consultation

  • We map your needs to what ATW can fund

We go through your role, your day-to-day experience, and how your neurodivergence affects your work. I help you identify every type of support that applies to your situation.

  • I translate your experience into assessor language

Access to Work is looking for specific things, and it’s important the assessor records this accurately. I'll show you how to describe your needs in a way that lands, without minimising what you're going through or over-explaining.

  • We cover what to expect on the day

What the assessor is likely to ask, how the conversation usually goes, what to do if something feels wrong, and how to make sure nothing important gets missed.

  • You receive your personalised checklist PDF

Within 48 hours, I send your written preparation document. Everything from our session, plus tips and advice, ready to use on the day.

Your personalised assessment checklist

This is a written PDF document sent within 48 hours of our call. It's designed to sit next to you on the day of your assessment so you don't have to rely on memory. It includes:

  • A summary of your needs framed in ATW language, ready to refer to

  • Every type of support we identified for your situation, so nothing gets left out

  • Suggested wording for describing your needs to the assessor

  • What to do if the assessor misunderstands or records something incorrectly

  • Any relevant links, resources, or next steps specific to your situation

What clients say

  • "I know what to say to the assessor and case manager. I feel reassured I can do this now."

  • "I feel seen and not stupid for not knowing this."

  • "I couldn't have navigated this on my own."

  • "The PDF was extra helpful on the day."

  • "The consultation helped me a lot. It completely reframed how I was thinking about the assessment."

Max, smiling brightly at the camera.

Why Max?

Max Wayne, ATW Consultant

Max is autistic and knows from experience how much can go wrong in an ATW assessment when the assessor doesn't fully understand neurodivergent needs. The checklist PDF format came directly from client feedback: people found that having something written to hold reduced the anxiety of feeling like they had to remember everything perfectly.

Max has supported clients through assessments across a wide range of roles, conditions, and situations, including clients who had previous awards cut and needed to rebuild their case.

You’ve already done the hard work of getting to this stage. This session makes sure that work pays off.

This service is not the right fit if:

  • Rejection icon with an X

Your assessment is in the next 72 hours

There isn't enough time to have the session and prepare your checklist before the assessment. It's worth contacting the organisation that set up your assessment to ask if you can rebook your assessment date.

  • Rejection icon with an X

    You haven't applied yet

If you haven't submitted your application to Access to Work yet, the assessment preparation session isn't the right starting point. Take a look at my consultations or comprehensive application support service instead.

You want someone to attend the assessment with you

This service prepares you to attend alone. If you'd like me to join the assessment and support you in real time, that's my separate "join your workplace assessment" service (£80), which can be combined with this one.
